In the next couple of hours, from the time of writing (1300GMT), the site will be unavailable as we are upgrading to a new server. This is to cater for the unplanned downtime that was caused by insufficient hardware the other day (must be all those Coded Previews!).
I cannot pinpoint an exact time for the switch over, but it will most likely be today at some point.
Please follow us on Twitter for updates.
Thanks,
Seb

Sorry for the required downtime the last 24 hours or so, which was used for maintenance.

We will be back online as soon as possible.
Thanks for your patience.

Hi,
The preview errors should have been fixed now. It turns out it wasn’t the host as I previously assumed (sorry to them!), but it was actually the development directory interfering with the main site. The development directory will now be moved to a new domain.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Kind Regards,
Seb

I’ve been getting lots of reports through of issues when creating a preview. It appears my host has updated the server config for a reason unknown to me.
I am trying to get the issue fixed ASAP.
Kind Regards,
Seb

We’ve just realised a simple “Tweet It” feature to allow you to share your Coded Preview quickly and easily by posting your Coded Preview link to your Twitter account.
Basically, when you have created your Coded Preview and you are taken to the Congratulations page, click the “Tweet It!” button and you will be directed to your Twitter account with a shortened Coded Preview link as your Twitter message.
Simple but useful - enjoy!

Hey,
That short bit of downtime you may have just experienced was a quick RAM upgrade on the server - we weren’t down again!
I should have announced before hand, but left it too late. At least it was pretty quick!

Seb

I have made a couple of small updates to the site’s advertisements.
The ads have been placed differently on the form. However, as they are slightly more obtrusive to the user experience than before, all the ads can be removed, simply by registering.
Small, simple update.
Thanks,
Seb

Hi Everyone,
Coded Preview, as I am sure you all know, has been down for ages. A long, long time.
During this time, I have been trying to retrieve all of the old preview files before switching the site over to the new server.
It’s a pretty complicated story, but in the end, I wasn’t able to retrieve all of the previews, I’m afraid. I was only able to retrieve those that were created before the last backup I took. Everything after that has gone. Not that you’ll have missed them anyway… the site’s been down long enough.
If I had known I would lose those files in the first place, I would have switched the site over straight away without them, but I tried everything I could to get them (with the belief I eventually would) and in the end, didn’t. I had no way of knowing. Even my old host didn’t know if I could get them, it was a case of “you’ll just have to renew the old hosting and see if it’s still on there”. The reason that took so long, was due to a series of very long dialogues between myself and my old host, by the way.
But, at least the site is back and you can recreate your previews. I had some updates coming too, but the programmer did a runner - it hasn’t been going that well with Coded Preview, as you can tell! Everything should be good to go, but I have noticed a few small errors which are being seen to.
So, I am sorry for the incredible downtime and the loss of files. Some of them are still here, but at least the site is back up.
Looking forward to hopefully continuing this site positively. Thanks for all the emails and concerns about the site, and if you are reading this, thanks for still coming back despite everything!
All the best,
Seb
